Also present is Ronny's fiancée, Adela (Judy Davis). After being met by Ronny at the station, they settle into quarters reserved for the British. Mrs. Moore, finding the rigid English lifestyle in India tiresome, befriends an Indian doctor, Aziz (Victor Banerjee). In gratitude for Adela's kindness towards Indians, Aziz invites her to visit the famous Marabar Caves. Ronny, upon learning of this, accuses Aziz. Despite Adela's testimony, Aziz is acquitted.
