Founder of Tohyeon (Traditional Korean clay painting). Tracing the breath and traces of life on the surface of clay, Lee Jong-neung's ceramics capture the shadows of the universe.
Lee Jong-neung's unique ideas and techniques have earned him international renown, with exhibitions held in New York, Washington, London, Tokyo, Osaka, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Russia over the past 40 years.
His works combine the Tohyeon technique with the aesthetics of modern painting.
These unique works are created through the use of natural pigments and original ideas that withstand temperatures of 1,250 degrees Celsius.
Paintings on clay plates, rather than canvas, often result in damage during the high-temperature firing process, making them highly rare.
Lee Jong-neung's ceramics are so renowned that they were exhibited at the British Museum in 2007.
His works are housed in collections such as the National Folk Museum of Pittsburgh, USA, the National Tea Leaf Museum in Hangzhou, China, and the Osaka Museum of History in Japan.
He also created works paying homage to the master of Fauvism, Henri Matisse.
