Matte Proof Coin.

Proof refers to a method of production rather than a coin's condition. Even coins with fingerprints or discoloration are marked as Proof.

Unlike regular coins, Proof coins are specially minted as commemorative or gift items. The design elements are matte, while the background of the coin is mirror-like, enhancing the beauty of the design.

The minting process for Proof coins is much more complex than for regular coins. The dies are highly polished, and each coin is struck at least 2-3 times.

This term is used for comparison with 'Brilliant Proof' and is generally indicated simply as 'Proof'.
