[BUNJANG] African Dogon Tribe Lizard Lock /
Height: 70cm
This lock was crafted by the Dogon people of Mali and was a common sight on the doors of homes and granaries. More than just a functional tool, these wooden locks served as symbols of identity and lineage for each household.
The designs often depicted animals or ancestral figures. This particular lock is shaped like a lizard, a creature that symbolizes fertility, vitality, and rebirth for the Dogon.
This standalone lizard-shaped door lock is rare and features a charming design.
Republic of Mali
