A fine example of Republic of China era white porcelain, this round lidded box is decorated with the 'Kirin Songja' pattern. The lid features a detailed depiction of a young boy riding a Qilin, accompanied by attendants. The Qilin's scales are accentuated with green and black lines, while the figures' robes are adorned with vibrant red and pink overglaze enamel ('bunchae'). The sides of the box are elegantly decorated with a simplified floral motif in the style of a 'dangchomun' (grapevine scroll), creating a sense of refined simplicity.

The base bears the mark '**Gwanyonaejo (官窯內造)**', a reign mark commonly used during the Republic of China era, signifying a continuation of the Qing Dynasty imperial kiln tradition. The glaze is smooth, and the vessel's compact form makes it suitable for use as a seal box ('ingu') or a cosmetic container.
