A large teapot in the Rose Medallion style, crafted during the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China era (late 19th to early 20th century).

Famille Rose (Canton) porcelain is a representative style of Chinese export porcelain, created by applying vibrant colors to white porcelain produced in Jingdezhen, then finished in Guangzhou. It gained immense popularity in British, American, and European markets from the late 19th century onwards. The Rose Medallion pattern, in particular, is recognized as a quintessential decorative style for Chinese export porcelain and remains highly sought after by international collectors today.

The body of the teapot is richly decorated with intricate scenes of figures, auspicious motifs, birds, peonies, and other symbols, covering the surface without empty space. The central oval medallions feature birds and peonies, symbolizing wealth and good fortune in a traditional Chinese painting composition. The vibrant colors characteristic of Famille Rose, with harmonious blends of green, pink, and gold, alongside the delicate brushwork, beautifully showcase the exceptional coloring techniques of the artisans from that period.

This piece was directly acquired from a US antique dealer and imported into Korea. It exemplifies the typical characteristics of late Qing to Republic era Canton export porcelain. At the time, such teapots served as high-end daily ware for the Western market, as well as decorative art objects. They continue to be a popular category, frequently traded in international auction and antique markets today.

The overall condition is very good, with no noticeable cracks or repairs on the body. However, the lid shows evidence of adhesive restoration on a previously damaged area.
