**Synopsis:**
Galaxy Express 999 is set in a future where humans can have mechanical bodies. The story follows Tetsuro Hoshino, a poor boy whose mother is murdered by a mechanical human. Seeking a mechanical body himself, he embarks on a journey with a mysterious woman named Maetel aboard a space train named '999'. Traveling to various planets, Tetsuro grows and contemplates humanity and the meaning of life.
