His subsequent record deal with RCA Victor was highly successful, with his third album, *Calypso*, selling a million copies, as did his debut album. Belafonte also had a significant film career, starring in *Bright Road*, *Carmen Jones*, *Odds Against Tomorrow*, *Island in the Sun*, and *Uptown Saturday Night*, among others. His television special, *The Belafonte Show*, won him an Emmy Award. A dedicated humanitarian and advocate for civil rights, he maintained close friendships with figures like Martin Luther King Jr. and Nelson Mandela. ***About Living Stereo:***
'Living Stereo' is a historic hi-fi stereo recording brand and classic album series introduced by the American record label RCA Victor in 1958. More than just a record label, it symbolizes the intersection of early audio technology and the golden age of classical music—a 'crossroads of humanities and technology.' It continues to be revered as a legendary name among audio enthusiasts and collectors worldwide.

1. **Background and Technological Innovation:**
* **Dawn of the Stereo Era:** In the mid-to-late 1950s, record labels in the West were focused on developing stereophonic sound technology alongside the advent of LPs. RCA Victor officially launched the 'Living Stereo' brand in 1958, introducing state-of-the-art stereo recording equipment from Westrex and others.
* **Natural and Rich Sound:** Engineers at the time established a 3-track recording method, placing microphones in the left, right, and center channels. This created a sense of realism and accurate spatial representation of the orchestra, as if the audience were listening live in a concert hall, setting the standard for hi-fi recordings.
