[BUNJANG] Celadon Porcelain Jar / 청자집호

This jar is likely a later reproduction of a Song Dynasty celadon piece. It features a stable design that evokes a sense of comfort. Aside from the incised design on the shoulder, the jar is unadorned, with the intentional crackle pattern filling the body.

This crackle effect became a natural decorative element in Goryeo celadon during the 13th century, enhancing the elegant beauty of the celadon. The fine crackles on the glaze allow light to pass through and scatter, giving the glaze color a more profound and rich appearance.

In the late Goryeo period, crackles, along with inlay techniques, played a role in enhancing the overall ornamentation. This piece can be understood in a similar context. The lid has a simplified animal-shaped handle (knob), which does not detract from the overall atmosphere, demonstrating a restrained use of decoration.

The height is approximately 18.5 cm, with a mouth diameter of 6 cm. The condition has a very minor chip on the spout (see photos 6/7, 7/7), but it is difficult to consider it a defect considering its age. (Please refrain from purchasing if you are sensitive to such details.)

송대(宋代) 청자를 후대에 방(倣)한 것으로 보이는 기물로
안정적이며 편안한 느낌을 주는 집호이다.
특히 어깨 부분의 음각 현문을 제외하면 이렇다 할 문양이 없는데
동부를 가득 메운 빙렬이 의도적 장식 효과를 연출하고 있다.
빙렬은 고려 청자에서도 13세기로 접어들면서
청자의 고고하고 아름다운 멋을 더해주는 자연스러운 문양으로 자리잡았다.
청자의 유면에 미세한 빙렬이 촘촘하게 퍼져 있으면
빛이 투과되고 산란되는 과정에서 유약의 색이
더 그윽하고 깊이 있어 보이는 효과를 준다.
고려 후기로 갈수록 빙렬은
상감기법과 더불어 전체적인 장식성을 높이는
역할을 하게 되는데,
이 기물 역시 그런 차원에서 이해하면 좋겠다.
뚜껑에는 동물 형상을 매우 단순화한 손잡이(뉴, 鈕)를
부착하여 전체적인 분위기를 해치지 않는,
장식의 절제미를 살렸다.
높이 약 18.5, 입지름 6 cm 이고
상태는 출수구에 아주 미세한 튐이 있으나(사진 6/7, 7/7 참조)
세월을 감안한다면 흠이라 하기 어렵겠다.
