Rare 1/100 scale Spitfire model kit released by Doyusha. The model is pre-painted, ensuring a high level of completion upon assembly.

This model represents the iconic British fighter aircraft and the brave pilots of the 71st Squadron, a volunteer American unit that assisted Britain before the United States officially entered World War II.

The actual aircraft represented by this model, BM361, was involved in combat on August 19, 1942, successfully shooting down a Ju 88 and damaging another. Unfortunately, during the engagement, BM361 was also hit and crashed, though the pilot survived.

​이 기체가 배속되었던 영국 공군 제71비행중대는 2차 세계대전 초기, 미국이 전쟁에 공식적으로 개입하기 전 영국을 돕기 위해 자원해서 입대한 미국인 의용군 비행대였습니다.

BM361의 마지막 비행은 1942년 8월 19일로 당일 Ju 88 1대를 격추하고, 다른 1대에 큰 피해를 입히는 전과를 올렸습니다.

​하지만 교전 과정에서 기총 사격에 BM361 역시 타격을 입고 결국 추락했습니다.
