2LP (Tarah/Altus)

A treasured collection of Beethoven Violin Sonatas performed by the legendary concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic, Gerhard Taschner.

This limited edition release features two 180g LPs, including Sonata No. 9 'Kreutzer' with Walter Gieseking and Sonata No. 5 'Spring' and Sonata No. 3 accompanied by Edith Farnadi.

Taschner's distinctive, powerful violin tone clashes brilliantly with Gieseking's profound piano in the 'Kreutzer' sonata, delivering the tension and overwhelming energy characteristic of historical monaural recordings. The 'Spring' and No. 3 sonatas showcase an exquisite and balanced ensemble performance with Farnadi.

This is the first LP release, newly remastered for vinyl playback from Tahra's valuable historical audio sources and pressed from analog master tapes. It is a limited edition pressing from Japan, featuring 180g heavyweight vinyl, monaural recording, and includes the original obi and Japanese liner notes.

This title is difficult to find domestically due to being sold out and is highly recommended for classical LP enthusiasts seeking to own the historical performances of Taschner and Gieseking in analog sound quality.
