[BUNJANG] Kim Ki-chang "Samgukji" Illustration / 동양화 운보 김기창 삼국지 삽화

This is an illustration from "Samgukji" (Romance of the Three Kingdoms) by the renowned artist Kim Ki-chang (also known as Unbo).

Unbo Kim Ki-chang (1913-2001) was a master painter representing modern and contemporary Korean art. Despite losing his hearing at the age of 8 due to typhoid fever, he overcame this challenge and left a significant mark on the 20th-century Korean art scene. He explored a wide artistic spectrum, including "Korean Saints," "Cheongrok Sansu" (Blue-Green Landscape), and "Babo Sansu" (Foolish Landscape). He is famously known for painting the portrait of King Sejong the Great that appears on the 10,000 won banknote.

These illustrations were originally published in newspapers during the 1960s and 1970s. An exhibition and sale of these newspaper illustrations were held at the Dong-A Gallery. The works showcased Unbo's characteristic bold yet swift brushstrokes and the understated elegance of newspaper illustrations.

This particular illustration depicts the backs of Liu Bei and Guan Yu. It appears to be the 29th illustration, as indicated by a pencil marking on the back. The dimensions are 23.5 x 17.5 cm.

While there are some age-related stains, the condition is good. Please be aware that counterfeit works exist for such illustrations. The final image is provided for reference from a museum.

신문에 연재되었던 삼국지를 모아 김동성선생이 삼국지를 출판하였습니다.

29번째의 삽화로 보이며 유비와 관우의 뒷모습을 그린것으로 보입니다.
상태는 세월의 흐름에 얼룩은 보이나 양호합니다.
