## About King Crimson:

King Crimson was an influential English rock band formed in 1968 and disbanded in 2021. Emerging during a period of innovation in British rock music in the late 1960s, they were pioneers of progressive rock.

Progressive rock, characterized by its "progressive" nature, absorbed influences from classical, jazz, blues, and psychedelic rock. A hallmark of this genre, and of King Crimson's music, is the meticulous and sophisticated creation of soundscapes in the studio.

King Crimson is widely credited with solidifying the stylistic foundations of progressive rock. Many of the genre-bending fusions and diverse instrumentation seen in contemporary progressive music can trace their origins back to this seminal band.

1968년에 결성되어 2021년에 해체된 영국의 록 밴드.
블루스 록과 사이키델릭 록이 주류였던 영국 록 음악계에 1960년대 후반 무렵 또 다른 록 장르들이 탄생하며 위세를 얻게 되는데, 하나는 하드 록/헤비 메탈이고 또 다른 하나는 바로 프로그레시브 록 (Progressive Rock)이다. 진보적인 록이라는 뜻에 알맞게 이들은 클래식, 재즈, 블루스, 사이키델릭 록 등 모든 장르의 음악을 흡수하며, 스튜디오에서 정교하게 음악을 만들어 내는 점은 프록 뮤직의 큰 특징 중 하나이다.
킹 크림슨은 바로 이런 프록 뮤직의 양식을 확고하게 다진 밴드로, 현재 프록씬에서 보이는 다양한 장르의 결합과 다채로운 악기들의 사용은 대체로 이 밴드로부터 시작되었다고 해도 과언이 아니다.
