청대에 제작된 청화백자 연화당초문 접시 2점입니다.

백자 태토 위에 청화 안료를 사용하여 연화와 당초문을 시문하였으며, 중앙의 원형 화창에는 활짝 핀 연화를 중심 문양으로 배치하였습니다. 그 주위로 굵고 유연하게 뻗어 나가는 줄기와 화엽을 반복적으로 구성하여 접시 전면을 풍성하게 채웠습니다. 청화의 짙고 옅은 농담과 비교적 자유로운 필선이 어우러져 민간 제작 청화백자 특유의 활달한 장식성을 보여줍니다.

연꽃은 중국 전통 미술에서 오랜 기간 사용된 대표적인 길상 문양으로, 진흙 속에서 자라면서도 깨끗한 꽃을 피우는 모습에서 청정·고결·길상을 상징합니다. 여기에 끊임없이 이어지는 당초문이 결합된 연화당초문은 생명력의 지속과 번영, 자손과 복록이 끊이지 않기를 기원하는 의미를 담은 장식으로 널리 사용되었습니다.
