For sale is a highly valuable Parker Duofold Presidential fountain pen and ballpoint pen set.

This is a sample version of the Presidential 18k solid gold model, with the entire body made of solid gold.

In the early to mid-90s, the original price of the Presidential model was $10,000 for the fountain pen and $5,000 for the ballpoint pen. Considering that a standard Centennial fountain pen was $300, an Orange model was $350, and a Godron model was $500, this was an astronomical price.

It was even advertised at the time with the claim that it was [the most expensive pen in the world, with the same value as the same weight of gold].

Due to the enormous price, Parker produced a sample model, rather than the actual Presidential, to introduce the pen to customers. The sample model is made of brass and was produced with the same weight as the actual solid gold model.

Although not solid gold, the sample is also very rare and is traded overseas for over $3,000. Considering that the solid gold version is priced over $10,000, this is the highest peak of the 1st generation Duofold that you can realistically own.
