This is a rare Blood Stone (Jiexi Stone) rough stone, characterized by its distinctive red patterns and luster.

The name 'Blood Stone' originates from its color, resembling the fresh blood of a chicken. During the Ming Dynasty, it was used as the material for the imperial seal of the emperor. It has been mined in the Changhua region of Zhejiang Province and the Inner Mongolia region of China. Since ancient times, it has been considered one of the Four Great Stones (四大名石), alongside Yellow Ochre Stone.

The red color is emitted by cinnabar (mercuric sulfide) within the rock. As major mining sites have become depleted, its rarity is very high.

The saw marks on the cross-section are from the previous owner's personal inspection to confirm the presence of natural red coloration within. These marks are a testament to its natural texture, allowing you to appreciate its inherent quality without misunderstanding.

Its exceptional luster makes it incredibly beautiful under natural or indoor lighting.

계혈석은 닭의 선혈과 같은 색감 때문에 붙여진 이름으로, 명나라 시대에는 황제 어보의 석재로 쓰였습니다. 중국 저장성 창화 지역과 내몽고 지역에서 산출되어 왔으며, 옛부터 전황석과 함께 4대 명석(四大名石)으로 속합니다.
붉은색은 암석 내부에 있는 황화수은(경면주사)이 내뿜는 것으로, 주요 광산이 고갈되어 희소성이 높습니다.
