This Square Incense Vase features a "Kwai Myun Mun" (monster mask) design and is crafted from brass.

The base bears the mark "Da Ming Xuan De Nian Zhi," indicating it is a production from the Xuan De period of the Ming Dynasty. This type of square inscribed vase is characteristic of the Ming Dynasty's imitation of ancient styles, often used as one of the "Three Incense Vessels" (robyeongsamsa) and placed in Buddhist altars.

**Design Elements:**
* **Neck:** Features a "Sui Myun Mun" (taotie mask) design, symbolizing majesty and often used in ancient sacrificial ceremonies. The vertical ridges on either side, known as "Chul Geuk," mimic the threshold ridges of ancient bronzes, adding depth.
* **Base:** Adorned with "Quan Yun Mun" (spiral cloud patterns), a common motif in Shang and Zhou dynasty bronzes, harmonizing with the beast-face design on the neck.

**Historical Context and Use:**
These bronze vases primarily served as "Jin Seol Gi" (ritual presentation vessels), alongside incense burners and incense containers, often placed in temples or ancestral halls. While inspired by Shang and Zhou dynasty ritual bronzes, this particular piece is classified as a "Mun Bang Ye Gi" (scholarly desk accessory) rather than a large-scale ancient ritual vessel.

The "Da Ming Xuan De Nian Zhi" mark on the base is a typical attribution found on bronze collectible items. Small bronze vessels of this style from the Xuan De period of the Ming Dynasty are exceedingly rare.

Based on its style, material, and craftsmanship, this piece is assessed to be from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China era.

기형은 상·주의 청동준에서 취한 것으로, 청대에 유행한 고대 양식의 예기 모방품에 속하며, 흔히 노병삼사의 향병으로 사용되어 불당에진널사용 쓰였습니다.
목 부위수면문(도철문) + 출극. 수면은 상·주의 대표적인 문양으로 위엄을 상징하며, 옛날에는 제사에 자주 사용되었습니다. 양쪽의 세로 능선은 ‘출극’이라 하며, 고대 청동기의 문지방 능선을 본따 입체감을 더했습니다. 둥근 받침에는 문양이 들어간 회전 소용돌이무늬(권운문)로, 상주 청동기 문양이기도 하며 목 부분의 짐승 얼굴과 상하로 서로 호응합니다.
이러한 동병은 대부분 향도 진설기(로병삼사 중 하나)였으며, 향로를 중앙에 두고 좌우로 향병과 향함을 배치하고, 병 안에 향삽과 향젓가락을 넣어 홀이나 불전에 진설하는 용도로 사용되었습니다. 상·주 시대의 대형 제사 중기가 아니라 문방예기에 속합니다.
바닥의 ‘대명 선덕년제’는 동기 수집품에서 전형적인 기탁형입니다.
명대 선덕 연간의 이와 같은 소형 동존은 현존이 매우 드뭅니다. 이 작품은 양식, 동질, 공예적 특징 면에서 청 말기민국으로봅니다.무계는1.26키로
