This is the limited edition Type A release of BUMP OF CHICKEN's 9th original album, "aurora arc." This edition includes a CD and DVD, along with a logo sticker.

Released approximately 3 years and 5 months after their previous album "Butterflies," "aurora arc" features 14 tracks on the CD, including 9 singles. The limited edition A and B versions come with a DVD or Blu-ray, respectively, containing live footage from COUNTDOWN JAPAN 18/19 and 11 music videos. The first pressing of all versions includes a special logo sticker.

The album's artwork is a collaboration between designer VERDY's VK DESIGN WORKS and photographer Koji Ota, featuring aurora photos taken in Yellowknife, Canada, overlaid with VK DESIGN WORKS' logo. The accompanying booklet includes photos of the band members on their aurora trip.

"aurora arc" achieved number 1 on both the weekly album charts and digital album charts in its first week of release, according to Oricon. It also topped the weekly combined album rankings, which aggregate CD sales, digital downloads, and streaming points.

BUMP OF CHICKEN으로서는, 전작 「Butterflies」로부터 약 3년 5개월만의 오리지날 앨범.
통상반, 초회한정반 A (DVD 포함), 초회한정반 B (Blu-ray 포함)의 3형태로 발매되며, 초회한정반 A·B에는 2018년 12월 28일에 출연한 COUNTDOWN JAPAN 18/19 라이브 영상 및 뮤직비디오 전11곡이 수록되어있다. 
또 세 형태 모두 첫회 생산분에는 로고 스티커가 특전으로 봉입되어있다.
수록곡은 14곡 (무음·숨겨진 트랙 제외)으로, 그 중 9곡이 싱글곡 (배신 한정으로 발매된 악곡도 포함)이다. 타이업 곡수도 11곡으로 지난 앨범에 비해 매우 많다.
이 작품의 아트웍은, 디자이너 VERDY가 인솔하는 VK DESIGN WORKS와 사진가 오오타 코지가 공동 제작했다.
오오타가 캐나다 옐로나이프에서 촬영한 오로라 사진 위에 VK DESIGN WORKS 로고가 그려진 디자인으로 되어 있다. 덧붙여 동봉되는 북클릿에는 오로라 촬영에 동행한 멤버의 사진이 수록된다.
오리콘차트에서는 2019년 7월 22일자 주간 앨범 랭킹 및 디지털 앨범 랭킹 2개 부문에서 첫 등장 1위 획득 (첫 주 20.2만장, 1.4만 다운로드). 또한 CD 매출, 디지털 전송, 스트리밍 전송 포인트를 합산한 '주간합산 앨범 랭킹'에서도 첫 등장 1위를 차지했다.
