The Heart Sutra teaches that all things in the world are empty and without a fixed self, and that we must detach ourselves from our attachments to achieve enlightenment.

It is made using the *Buncheong* technique of inlaying white clay (*Bunjangto*) on a grayish-blue clay base.

관자재보살이 깊은 지혜로 비추어 보니 세상의 모든 것이 비어 있음(空)을 깨달았다. 형체(色)가 곧 비어 있음(空)과 다르지 않고, 비어 있음이 곧 형체와 다르지 않다.
