K-band's top rookies, Dragon Pony, release their second EP, [Not Out]!
[Not Out] features autobiographical narratives and reflects facets of imperfect youth.
Following their debut album [POP UP] released on September 26, 2024, which brought a fresh wave to the domestic music scene, Dragon Pony will release their second EP, [Not Out], on March 19, 2025.
The title of this EP and its main track, 'Not Out', originates from baseball terminology, signifying a chance for a batter to remain a runner even in a strikeout situation, depending on specific conditions.
The main track 'Not Out' draws a parallel between the constantly challenging modern youth and a 'not out' situation, conveying encouragement that a life of striving is meaningful in itself, even amidst an uncertain and daunting reality akin to a long tunnel. It also solidifies the resolve to move forward without fear, even when facing moments of despair at the end of one's efforts. The song is characterized by its ability to maximize emotional immersion through skillful arrangement and deconstruction of instruments, allowing listeners to experience both a lyrical atmosphere and intense musical energy.
This EP includes two new tracks: the main title song 'Not Out' and the sub-title song 'NEVER'. 'NEVER', starting with a calm acoustic guitar melody, captures the emotions of a moment of resolved farewell through soulful vocals and culminates in powerful rock sounds in the latter half.
Additionally, the EP features three previously loved songs from offline performances: 'Waste', 'Altruism (To. Nosy Boy)', and 'On Air'. With a diverse range of genres built upon a foundation of authentic rock sound—from aggressive grunge and vintage blues to pop-rock with refreshing guitar tones—Dragon Pony's broad musical spectrum is intelligently utilized across these five tracks. Furthermore, the album heightens anticipation as all members directly participated as main producers, handling the lyrics, composition, and arrangement for all songs in an independent production process.

2024년 9월 26일, 첫 데뷔 앨범 [POP UP] 발매로 국내 음악씬에 새 바람을 일으킨 드래곤포니가 오는 2025년 3월 19일, 두 번째 EP [Not Out]을 발매한다.
이번 EP의 제목이자 메인 타이틀곡의 제목인 'Not Out'은 야구 용어에서 비롯된 표현으로, 타자가 삼진 스트라이크 상황에서도 특정 조건에 따라 아웃 되지 않고 여전히 주자로 뛸 수 있는 기회를 의미한다.
꿈을 향해 끊임없이 도전하는 현대 청춘들의 모습을 낫 아웃 상황에 비유한 메인 타이틀곡 'Not Out'은, 비록 긴 터널처럼 불안하고 막막한 현실이지만, 도전하는 삶 그 자체로도 의미 있다는 격려를 전한다. 동시에 노력의 끝에 마주한 것이 절망의 순간이더라도 두려워하지 않고 전진하자는 의지를 굳건히 하고 있다. 악기를 적재적소에 배치하고 해체하는 유려한 구성을 통해 가사의 감정적 몰입도를 극대화하는 것이 특징으로, 서정적인 분위기와 뜨거운 음악적 에너지를 함께 느낄 수 있다.
이번 EP에는 메인 타이틀곡 'Not Out' 과 서브 타이틀곡 'NEVER', 두 곡이 새로 공개된다. 담담한 어쿠스틱 기타 선율로 시작하는 'NEVER'는 주저하던 이별을 결심하는 순간의 감정을 호소력 있는 가창과 후반부의 강렬한 락사운드로 고스란히 담아낸다.
또 오프라인 무대에서 꾸준히 사랑받아 온 'Waste', '이타심 (To. Nosy Boy)', 'On Air' 3곡이 수록되었다. 저돌적인 그런지부터 빈티지한 질감의 블루스 그리고 청량하고 시원한 기타 톤의 팝 록까지, 정통 록 사운드를 기반으로 다양한 장르 요소를 결합한 다섯 가지의 트랙에 드래곤포니가 지닌 넓은 음악 스펙트럼이 영민하게 활용되어 있다. 또한, 이번 앨범 역시 멤버 전원이 메인 프로듀서로서 전곡의 작사, 작곡, 편곡을 직접 담당하는 독립적인 프로듀싱 방식으로 제작돼 기대를 더한다.
