This is a traditional Hagi-yaki matcha chawan from Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, with a history tracing back to Joseon potters who traveled to Japan during the Imjin War (1592).

This piece embodies the rustic texture and simple, unadorned beauty inherent in the clay itself. Subtle, hairline cracks, known as 'kannyu' (inclusions), formed during firing, add to its aesthetic appeal. As you use it for tea over time, the tea will naturally seep into these inclusions, deepening the color and character of the bowl, allowing you to enjoy the 'seven transformations of Hagi-yaki'. The soft, cream-colored glaze and natural crackles create a uniquely captivating piece.

This rare ceramic, held in private collection for a long time, is valuable not only for practical use but also as a display item for tea ceremonies or as a collectible antique.

임진왜란(1592년) 당시 일본으로 건너간 조선 도공들의 기술에서 시작되어 현재까지 명맥을 이어오고 있는 일본 야마구치현의 전통 도자기 하기야키 말차 다완입니다. 화려한 장식 없이 흙 고유의 거친 질감과 소박하고 투박한 미감이 잘 살아있는 작품입니다. 가마에서 구워지며 표면에 생긴 미세하고 잔잔한 금(관입)이 멋스러우며, 차를 오래 마실수록 찻물이 관입 사이로 자연스럽게 스며들어 그릇의 색과 느낌이 깊어지는 '하기의 일곱 가지 변화'를 즐기실 수 있습니다. 전체적으로 크림빛의 부드러운 유약 표현과 자연스러운 크랙 현상이 아주 매력적이며, 실사용은 물론이고 다도 전시용이나 소장용 골동품으로도 가치가 높은 잔입니다.
