[BUNJANG] Hongshan Culture Bi Disk Pendant / 홍산문화 곡옥

This artifact is a genuine piece from the Hongshan Culture, dating back to approximately 4000 BCE, a Neolithic civilization that flourished primarily in Liaoning Province, China.

Unlike other Neolithic cultures, the Hongshan Culture is renowned for its abundant jade artifacts (玉器). This piece is one such example. While the specific jade type appears to be a local variety of yellow jade rather than a famously renowned jade from China, it is a significant find.

Through extensive study and collection of jade items over many years, it has become evident that approximately 99.9% of artifacts sold as Hongshan Culture pieces on the market are fakes. Typical characteristics of fakes include rough, mechanically etched lines and a coarse surface treated with chemicals to mimic aging. However, this artifact, as evidenced by the photographs, features smooth, flowing lines and a very polished surface.

Furthermore, the piece exhibits the cinnabar phenomenon (硃砂), where cinnabar, contained within the jade, forms crystals over a long period and appears on the surface. This is a strong indicator of authenticity.

홍산문화 곡옥 (紅山文化曲玉)

홍산문화는 기원전 4000년경 중국 요녕성에서 주로 번성했던 신석기 시대 선사 문화입니다. 홍산문화 유적지에서는 타 신석기 문화들과 달리 옥기(玉器)가 다량 출토되는데 이 기물도 그중 하나입니다. 재질은 중국에서 이름있는 명옥은 아닌 것 같고, 아마 지방에서 나오는 황옥의 일종으로 추정됩니다.
오랫동안 옥기에 대해서 공부하고 많은 기물을 수집해본 결과 시중에서 홍산문화라고 판매되는 기물 중 99.9%가 모두 방품인데, 방품의 특징은 드르륵 드르륵 기계로 조각하여 선이 거칠며 화학약품으로 산화시켰기 때문에 표면 또한 거칩니다. 그러나 본 기물은 사진을 보면 알 수 있듯 선이 부드러우며 표면이 매우 매끄럽습니다. 옥석 내부에 있는 황화수은이 오랜시간에 걸쳐 결정을 이루어 옥석 표면에 나타나는 주사(硃砂)현상도 보입니다. 저렴히 판매합니다.
