'Ji Gu Bai' is a specialized term used in jade collection and appraisal, referring to a phenomenon or type of jade that is opaque, pure white or grayish-white, and lacks the typical translucency or luster of jade, resembling the appearance of chicken bones.

**Formation:**
This alteration occurs when jade artifacts are exposed to alkaline substances, organic matter, geothermal heat, and moisture in the soil for hundreds or thousands of years. The surface of the jade undergoes calcification or transformation.
