This is a rare 1973 Iranian 20 Rial coin featuring two distinct minting errors: a Die Crack Error and a Die Clash Error.

**1. Die Crack Error:**
This error occurs when the die (stamp) used to mint coins develops a crack due to repeated impact pressure. As coins are struck with the cracked die, the raised, cracked portion is imprinted onto the coin, creating a distinct raised line or ridge on the coin's surface. This typically happens when a die exceeds its intended minting capacity (around 170,000 coins per die).

**2. Die Clash Error:**
A Die Clash error occurs when the obverse and reverse dies collide without a planchet (blank coin) between them. This collision can cause the design of one die to imprint onto the surface of the other. Normally, the gap between the dies is precisely adjusted to ensure the planchet is centered for striking. However, human error in adjusting this gap can lead to the dies colliding. When a planchet is subsequently inserted and struck, the coin will bear not only its intended design but also a faint impression from the clash-induced marking of the opposing die.

주화 도안이 새겨진 다이(극인)로 동전을 찍어내면

처음에는 문제없이 선명하게 주화가 만들어지는데

계속 주화를 찍어내면 반복되는 타격압력으로 다이 일부분이 금이가 갈라지는 경우가 생깁니다.

다이(극인)가 갈라진 상태에서 그대로 동전을 내리치면

갈라진 자리가 동전에 양각으로 압인돼 융기된 형태로 나타나게 됩니다.

보동 다이(극인) 하나로 17만개 정도 동전을 찍는데, 압인 수량 한계를 초과해서 사용할 경우 발생합니다.


2. 다이 클래시 에러 (Die Clash Error, 다이(극인) 충돌 에러)

동전의 앞면을 찍는 다이와 뒷면을 찍는 다이 사이에 소전이 없는 상태에서

두 다이가 충돌하면 서로 반대편 다이에 도안의 흔적을 남기는 경우가 생깁니다.

(보통은 가운데 투입되는 소전에 도안이 찍힐 정도로 간격을 조정해 놓기 때문에 가운데 소전이 없어도 두 다이가 충돌하는 일은 없어야 하지만, 사람이 하는 일이라 간격 조정이 잘못되는 경우가 생깁니다.)

다이충돌이 생긴 상태에서 소전이 투입되면

원래의 앞뒷면 도안 이외에 충돌로 생긴 반대면의 주화 도안이 같이 찍히게 됩니다.
