The artist is known to be Jeon Se-gwang (田世光, 1916-1999), a representative painter of modern Chinese Gongbi flower-and-bird painting. Influenced by Yu Fei'an (于非闇), Jeon Se-gwang gained fame for his meticulously depicted works of birds, flowers, and insects, and is recognized for continuing the lineage of modern Chinese flower-and-bird painting while active at the Beijing Art Academy.
