A beautiful folding fan painting depicting a 'Hwajo-do' (flower and bird painting) with lotuses and reeds by a tranquil pond, featuring a pair of small birds taking flight. The dynamic wing strokes of the birds, combined with the lush green lotus leaves and subtle coloring, create a sense of both vitality and tranquility.

The upper left of the painting includes the inscription: "癸卯夏五月 公博先生正 田世光 寫于柳浪莊上", which translates to "Painted by Jeon Se-gwang at Ryuwangjang in the fifth month of summer, Gui-mao year (1743/1813/1873/1935), for the esteemed Mr. Gongbo."

The artist is identified as Jeon Se-gwang (田世光, 1916-1999), a representative painter of modern Chinese 'Gongbi' (meticulous brushwork) flower and bird painting. He followed the style of Yu Fei-an (于非闇) and gained fame for his delicate brushstrokes and vibrant colors in depicting birds, flowers, and insects, characteristics well-represented in the depiction of birds and aquatic plants on this fan.

The reverse side of the fan features the prominent inscription "雲裏蒼梧" (Yunli Cangwu), meaning "Azure peaks within the clouds," a propitious phrase symbolizing a secluded, elegant life and an ideal realm, detached from the mundane world.

The red fan ribs are adorned with openwork carvings of bamboo leaves and chrysanthemums. When unfolded, it offers the aesthetic pleasure of viewing a complete 화조도 (Hwajo-do).
