[BUNJANG] Joseon Dynasty White Porcelain 'Samiho' Jar (17th-18th Century) / 조선백자 삼이호 단지 높11cm 구9cm
Dating from the mid to late Joseon Dynasty (17th-18th century), likely produced in the Bunwon region. The color, a blend of grayish-blue and grayish-white rather than pure white, suggests it was crafted for practical use in official kilns on the periphery or in private kilns, rather than being top-grade royal ware.
■■The mouth rim has been repaired with gold (Kintsugi).■■
During the Joseon era, 'Samiho' jars of this type were primarily used as high-quality containers. They served purposes such as holding the royal placenta ('tae') or storing honey and incense.
Distinguishing features, including rough potter's wheel marks inside the jar, kiln traces on the base, and the somewhat robust yet voluminous body with characteristic ear-shaped handles, indicate its creation between the 17th and 18th centuries, following the Imjin War.

유색이 아주 하얗기 보다는 약간의 회청색, 회백색을 띠고 있어, 왕실 관요의 최상급 백자보다는 조선 중~후기 분원지역 가마 관요 변두리 민간 가마에서 실용 목적으로 구워낸 것으로 보입니다.

조선 시대에 이러한 삼이호는 주로 태항아리(왕실의 태를 담는 항아리)나 꿀,
향 등을 보관하는 고급 용기로 사용 되었습니다.
항아리 내부의 거친 물레 자국과 바닥에 눌어 붙은 가마 흔, 그리고 다소 투박하면서도 볼륨감 있는 몸체와 고리(귀)의 성형 방식으로 보아 임진왜란 이후인 17세기에서 18세기 사이에 제작된 백자 호로 추정됩니다.
