[BUNJANG] Kichijōji Mishima Celadon Tea Bowl (Dawan) by Toshiaki / 길상 찻사발 (다완)

A high-quality Buncheong Mishima (Samseom) tea bowl, featuring auspicious symbols, crafted by Japanese tea ceremony master Toshiaki.

This exquisite piece measures 13.5cm in diameter and 7cm in height.

It comes with an authentic Paulownia wood box (Gōsō) signed by the artist, Toshiaki.

The interior of the bowl is adorned with intricate incised floral patterns, including comb patterns and chrysanthemum motifs. At the center, the auspicious characters '吉' (Kichi - good fortune) and '祥' (Shō - auspiciousness) are clearly inlaid with white slip, symbolizing wishes for blessings and good luck.

The base, a crucial element determining a tea bowl's value, features a raised bamboo-joint shaped foot (Chikudoku-tsuki), indicative of a high-grade piece. The artist's distinct seal (Dōin) is clearly stamped on the base, confirming its authenticity and collectible value.

The Mishima (Samseom) style, which forms the foundation of this ceramic, originates from the inlaid pottery techniques of Joseon Dynasty Buncheong ware (15th-16th centuries).

This style was introduced to Japan by Korean potters who traveled there around the time of the Imjin War (1592) and quickly gained popularity, becoming a central element in Japanese tea ceremony culture.

This artwork is a valuable vessel meticulously reinterpreted and crafted by the master's hands, preserving this rich traditional technique for the modern era.

길상문자 미시마(삼섬) 찻사발 (다완)

일본 차도구 명인(토시아키 작)의 친필 서명 오동나무 상자(공상)가 포함된 고급 분청 미시마(삼섬) 다완입니다.

그릇 안쪽에는 빗살문과 국화문 같은 인화문이 정교하게 배열되어 있으며, 중심부에는 복을 기원하고 좋은 일이 생기기를 바라는 의미의 '吉(길)'과 '祥(상)'이라는 길상문자가 백토로 선명하게 상감되어 있습니다.

찻사발의 가치를 결정하는 밑바닥 굽 부분은 대나무 마디처럼 솟아오른 고급 죽절 굽 형태이며, 작가의 낙관(도인)이 선명하게 찍혀 있는 소장 가치 높은 정품 작품입니다.

이 도자기의 모태가 된 미시마(삼섬) 양식은 본래 조선 시대(15~16세기)의 분청사기 인화문 기법에서 유래되었습니다.

1592년 임진왜란 전후로 일본에 건너간 우리 도공들에 의해 현지에서 큰 사랑을 받으며 일본 다도 문화의 핵심적인 찻사발 양식으로 정착하였습니다.

본 작품은 이러한 유서 깊은 전통 기법을 현대에 이르기까지 명인의 손길로 정성스럽게 재해석하여 빚어낸 가치 있는 기물입니다.
