He graduated from Seoul National University's College of Fine Arts and Graduate School and served as a professor in the Department of Oriental Painting for over 30 years, dedicating himself to nurturing future artists. Known as a "writing painter," he has connected deeply with the public through his bestselling "Hwacheopgihaeng" (Sketchbook Journey) series.

His work is characterized by the expression of reverence for 'life,' blending traditional brushwork with modern sensibilities. Notable series include:
