This piece, fitting into the antique category, offers a humble aesthetic with its brown or醬 glaze (갈유, 褐釉, 醬釉) applied to a twin vase (쌍련호).

Despite its lack of ornamentation, it exudes a refined and elegant atmosphere due to its impeccable form. The design evokes a message of harmony and oneness.

Two vases of equal size were crafted and joined at the shoulder with a clay band, then securely attached with handles. Glazed inside and out (except for the base), this piece is elevated in quality. The exterior features a wiped finish and a single line of incised patterns to alleviate any sense of plainness.

One might wonder about its original purpose. Its excellent state of preservation suggests it could be used today as a tea caddy, a container for small items, or even a small vase for flowers.

(It has a similar feel to the slightly larger containers used for sugar and creamer in tea houses during the 1970s-80s.)

골동대열에 들어선,
소박한 느낌을 주는 갈유(褐釉, 醬釉) 쌍련(雙聯)호인데
꾸밈도 없지만 한 치의 흐트러짐도 없어 단아한 분위기마저 풍기고
화합과 일심동체의 메시지를 주는 듯한 기물이다.
크기가 같은 두 개의 호를 빚고
어깨 부분에서부터 동부 가운데로 흙띠로 접합한 뒤
손잡이를 덧대어 단단히 결합했다.
바닥을 제외하고 안밖으로 시유하여 격을 높였는데
바깥 쪽은 물닦이를 하고 음각 현문을 한 줄 넣어
밋밋함을 해소했다.
무엇을 담았던 기물일까?
당장에라도 식탁에 올려놓고 사용해도 될 정도로
보존 상태가 매우 좋다.
차통으로, 혹은 소소한 물건들을 넣어두는 용도나
키 작은 꽃들을 꽂는 화병으로 사용해도 좋을 듯...
(70~80년대 다방에서 설탕과 프림을 담았던 그릇보다
조금 더 큰 것을 붙여 놓은 느낌?)
