This is a tea bowl crafted by the master of Korean tea ware, Chun Han-bong of Mungyeongyo.

Recognized as a Master of Korean Ceramics and a holder of Gyeongbuk Intangible Cultural Heritage for pottery, Chun Han-bong is a legendary figure in the world of tea bowls, known to collectors and practitioners of the Korean tea ceremony.

His daughter, Chun Kyung-hee, continues the Mungyeongyo tradition.

This Ungcheon Dawon tea bowl features a beautiful glaze transformation (yobeon), an excellent form, and a substantial weight, offering a superb tactile experience. It is truly a masterpiece.

The embossed 'Cheonja' signature used in this piece was employed in the early Mungyeongyo period and is preferred by those who wish to experience the traditional 'jangjabool' taste. Be cautious, as embossed signatures are often found on tea sets, and pieces with incised signatures are sometimes misrepresented as tea bowls, especially when offered at low prices.
