[BUNJANG] Qing Dynasty Celadon Porcelain 'Shuangxi' Jar with Scroll Motif / 청화쌍희자문호

A white porcelain jar crafted approximately 130-150 years ago during the late Qing Dynasty.

This piece features the 'Shuangxi' (double happiness) character, written side-by-side in underglaze blue (Qinghua), alongside a scroll vine motif (similar to acanthus scrolls), symbolizing the continuous flow of joy, prosperity, and good fortune. This intricate design adorns the body of the vessel, which was traditionally used for storing tea or other precious items.

The mouth rim, intentionally flared outwards, is glazed and designed for easy sealing with silk or paper, indicating that the vessel was originally intended to be lidless.

Around the shoulder, simplified floral patterns are meticulously placed at regular intervals. This detail reflects an adherence to the stylistic conventions of high-quality ceramics from earlier periods.

The mouth rim has undergone repair due to minor damage, but the restoration is subtle and adds to the item's antique charm rather than detracting from it. The piece also offers excellent historical insight, with observable glaze variations and air bubbles (see photos 6/7, 7/7, magnified x150) that clearly indicate its age.

대략 130~150년 전(청말)에 제작된 백자 소호입니다.
청화로 기쁠 희(喜)자를 나란히 붙여 적은, 일명
쌍희 자와 권초문(卷草紋, 전지문과 같은 의미로,
부귀영화의 기쁨이 끊임없이 이어지기를 바라는 문양)이
동부 가득 시문된 기물로, 차(茶)나 귀한 것을 나누어 담는
용도로 사용 되었습니다.
완전히 외반 되어 천이나 종이를 덮어 봉(封)하기 용이하게 고안되고
유약이 시유된 구연부는 원래 뚜껑이 없는 기형임을 알 수 있게 해줍니다.
어깨 부분에는 일정한 간격으로 간략화된 화문(? 花紋)을 수 놓았는데,
그 이전 시기의 고급 기물들의 형식을 따르고자 한 흔적으로 볼 수 있겠습니다.
구연부는 일부를 다쳐 수리가 된 상태이나, 아주 흉한 정도는 아니고
골동 맛(?)을 더하는 정도로 볼 수 있고,
시대를 구분할 수 있는 확실한 기포 변이를 관찰(사진 6/7, 7/7, 배율 x150)할 수 있는
좋은 자료이기도 하여 입수했던 기억이 있습니다.
