​오페라의 거장 조아키노 로시니가 불과 12세의 나이에 작곡한 '현악을 위한 소나타' 6곡 중 1, 2, 3, 6번을 수록하고 있습니다.

원래 제1,제2 바이올린과 첼로, 더블 베이스의 사중주 실내악곡으로 작곡되었으나 현악 합주(관현악곡)로 연주되는 경우가 많으며, 현악기의 아름다운 음색을 너무도 잘 표현한 곡들로 로시니의 천재성에 경외감을 느끼게 되는 명곡들입니다.

어린 시절의 작품임에도 불구하고 이탈리아 특유의 밝고 유쾌한 선율과 화려한 기교가 돋보이며, 헤르베르트 폰 카라얀(Herbert von Karajan)과 베를린 필하모닉 오케스트라는 이 작품들에 특유의 풍성한 질감과 우아한 품격을 불어넣었습니다.
