A set of five Mushiake-Yaki celadon porcelain tea cups featuring a plum blossom motif, crafted approximately 100 years ago.

Mushiake-Yaki refers to ceramics traditionally passed down from the Mushiake region of Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Its origins trace back to the late 17th century (mid-Edo period) from a kiln established by the Ikeda clan, lords of Okayama, for the production of tea ceremony utensils.

Developed from its inception as implements for the tea ceremony, these pieces are characterized by their elegant forms and refined dignity. The aesthetic sensibility was further deepened through guidance from renowned Kyoto painters and tea masters.

Today, the number of kilns continuing this tradition is extremely limited, making these pieces highly valuable as rare traditional crafts.

This particular cup, a *Monyouhai* with a gently flaring rim, is ideal for savoring the aroma of tea and represents a superior form in the tea ceremony. The *Tsuya-yaki* technique is employed, depicting plum blossoms in cobalt blue and white slip beneath a yellowish glaze.

Acquired at a high price from an offline auction in Okayama, these cups are highly valued in Japan and rarely seen domestically. They are truly rare.

Regarding condition: Three cups are in good condition, one has a minor chip, and one shows an old repair consistent with its age.

100년전후 제작한 세토 虫明 무시아케야끼 청화백태 매화문 문향배 5인 set입니다.
무시아케야끼는 일본 오카야마현 세토우치시 오쿠초 무시아게 지역에서 전승되어 온 도자기를 말합니다.
​에도 시대 중기인 1600년대 후반에 오카야마 번의 가로였던 이케다 가문이 자신의 영지에서 차 도구 등을 굽게 한 御用窯 고요우요에서 시작되었습니다.
초기부터 다도를 위한 도구로 발전했기 때문에 형태가 단아하고 격조가 높습니다.
특히 교토의 유명한 화가나 다인들의 지도를 받으며 감성이 깊어졌습니다.
현재는 그 명맥을 잇는 가마가 극히 소수로 줄어들어 희귀한 전통 공예로서 가치를 지니고 있습니다.
본 잔은 길고 구연부가 살짝 벌어지는 문향배로 차의 향기를 즐기기 좋은 잔으로
다도에서 최고의 형태입니다.
노르스름한 유약안에 청화와 백토로 매화를 그린 쓰야끼 기법입니다.
직접 오카야마의 오프라인 경매에서 높은 가격에 낙찰받았습니다.
일본에서 지금도 고가이며 국내엔 잘 보이지 않는 잔입니다.
정말 귀한 잔입니다.
상태는 오래되어 세점은 양호하며 한점은 미세튐 한점은 오래된 수리가 보입니다.
