2012년에 일시 해산한 도쿄사변은 2020년 1월1일에 공식 트위터·홈페이지상에서 밴드의 「재생」을 발표하고 활동을 재개했다.
이후 2021년 4월23일 활동 재개 후 첫 정규앨범이 되는 본작을 '록의 날' 인 6월9일 발매한다고 발표했다.
동시에 앨범의 재킷과 도쿄지헨의 새로운 아티스트 사진도 공개되고, 게다가 앨범의 특설 사이트도 오픈했다. 이후 5월13일에는 지난 3월 말 선방송한 '녹주' 뮤직비디오를 유튜브에 공개했고, 발매가 임박한 6월3일에는 유튜브에서 본작인 'MUSIC' 를 공개했다.
드라마 <우리는 미쳤다> 주제가 <빨간 동맹>, 영화 <사쿠라> 주제가 <파란 아이디>, NHK 종합드라마 10 <드림팀> 주제가 <어두운 흰색>을 포함한 화제가 된 작품의 10년 만의 오리지널 풀 앨범!
본 앨범은 힙합, 펑크, 소울, 록 등의 다양한 장르를 내포하고 있다.
시이나는 이에 대해 "코드워크에 대한 멜로디 메이크업을 한다면 펑크라기보다는 어느 쪽이냐 하면 재즈일지도 모릅니다." 라고 말했다.
