This is a Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) celadon glazed, melon-shaped jar with a lotus leaf lid.

The lid is shaped like an overturned lotus leaf (荷葉) and features a knob resembling a stem, characteristic of the Yuan Dynasty style. It boasts a full body with a melon-shaped contour (瓜稜形), providing a sense of dimension and stability. The surface exhibits well-developed craquelure (開片) of various sizes (large, medium, and small), and the iron content around the foot rim has oxidized, creating 'hearthstone red' (火石紅) tones. Notably, the craquelure is infused with natural, aged patina, lending it an antique charm.

Similar forms have been discovered in abundance from the Shinan shipwreck, reinforcing the certainty that this is a Yuan Dynasty piece.

盖(뚜껑)이 蓮葉을 엎어놓은 형상(荷葉)을 말하며 줄기모양을 본뜬 꼭지가 달려있는 전형적 원대 Style로 풍만한 몸체와 瓜稜形의 입체감과 안정감을 주는 작품으로 피부는 大.中.小 開片(빙렬)이 잘 발달되어 있으며 많은 크고작은 종안들과 굽주변 철분성분의 산화로 火石紅도 담고있으며 특히 빙렬사이에 긴세월의 자연스런 오염이 스며 고풍스럽습니다.
이와 유사한 형태의 기물은 신안 보물선에서도 다수가 발견된적이 있는 元代作品으로 확신합니다^^
